Scrap-a-Thon

Well I am packing up my scrap booking supplies and heading to a semi-annual scrap booking weekend. It all started out innocently enough with just a weekend away scrap booking with my friends then overnight turned into two nights then well two night were not enough you really just get started so it turned into 3 nights well now 5+ years later we head to our secret location on Wednesday and come back home on Sunday. This year we have to leave by 1 pm on Sunday because they will be using the facility for a Super Bowl Party. It is great to get away we share the cooking duties and all of our scrap booking resources, plus they have a big screen TV there and we watch tons of chick flicks (Let the crying begin) It is really hard to scrapbook when someone is dying of leukemia and you are crying like there is no tomorrow. This time only 6 of us are going so we will have a little more room to spread out. Luckily my husband is in town for the week so I didn't need beg my girlfriend to come stay with the boys. It is snowing here so I can't pack everything in the car tonight. I have some goals to accomplish this week.
1. Finish my book of Paris (I was about 4 pages short last time we went)
2. Finish our trip to Washington DC
3. Catch up on my oldest son school book (He will graduate this year and I want it caught up for his party)
That should keep my busy.
Ta - ta for now

If you remember the Master Card commercials of late you will recognize the inspiration for the page. I planned this page before we even got there so it came together quite easily.

Welcome

Ever since I found our about the Cricut Vinyl I have been wanting to put something over the door in our front room thanks to ShirleyO who posted her idea on the Cricut Message Board inspired me with this creation you can see her post here http://www.cricut.com/messageboard/tm.aspx?m=3826214&mpage=1&key=
Thanks ShirleyO for helping me out.
This was so easy I used Storybook for the letters and branch and the butterfly came from Home Accents. Of course I used some of the Wall Pops that I got at Lowes on sale.

Can you see a theme going on this was Spring Break 2008. The clear letters at are attached with GLOO. It an opaque glue that dries clear. I love Gloo the only problem is if the lid is not on tight it sets up in the container. The stars are some of that table confetti and are attached with brads. Very patriotic

I am really behind in my scrapbooking (aren't we all). My scrapping friends and I have decided that it isn't about keeping up it is about using scrapbooking as our creative outlet. So if you can see by the picture this was taken in 2007 at the Grand Canyon. I wanted to start my album with a picture that was as grand as the Grand Canyon. This is how I made it I order 2 8x10 pictures one as the back ground and one to use for the letters. A long time ago I bought the Coluzzle this was in the days before the Cricut, but it worked perfectly for this because I need to make the pictures match and there is no way the Cricut could do that. I used pop dot to raise the letters and placed them behind black paper and tada a great page. it wasn't that easy the thing to remember is to measure twice because you can only cut once.

The Cricut Storybook cartridge has great swirls and flourish that are so popular right now with scrapbooking the designs are endless. I wrote in Microsoft word and used different fonts to accentuate different ideas in my journaling. I think it make it interesting to read. It may a little something, something to it, but I haven't decided what yet.

Delicious

Rick Steves has the best travel books he suggested a little gelato shop on St. Louis street in old town Paris it was to die for, not only was the gelato (Italian for ice cream) delicious there was the cutest french girl behind the counter that was an artist with gelato. I pointed to the flavors that I wanted and as she scooped up the gelato she made it in to a petal and using her artistic hand made a beautiful flower from gelato it was almost (almost) too pretty to eat. I used the Cricut Opposite Attracts Cartridge and it was perfect for using the English and French word for delicious. I saved the paper that was around my cone as a souvenir and inserted a flower to represent the gelato flower that we ate in the streets of Paris. The cricut markers helped the block lettering stand out more. As you can see from the picture all the food of Paris was picture perfect

I love personalizing the black composition books. My son's girlfriend is the recipient of this book. With having only boys it is great to have a girl in the family to make girly things for. The paper is from the DC glitter pack and I used metallic paper for the letters. I used Circut cartridge All Mixed Up.

Crazy Crust Cobbler

My Grandma made this cobbler every summer with the fresh blackberries. I would ask for this cobbler for my birthday instead of a traditional cake. I never realized how easy it was to make.
Give it a try.
In a 9x9x2 pan, melt one stick of butter or margarine. Mix 3/4 cup self-rising flour, and 3/4 cup milk and pour into pan of melted butter ( DO NOT MIX) add one can cherry pie filling in pan. Again do not mix Bake 45 minutes in 375 degree oven. Other fruit filling may be substituted. I would add sugar to the blackberries.... To make it in a 9x13 pan just double the recipe.
I am counting on my friend Gay to hook me up with fresh blackberries next July.
