Still Graduating

We are preparing for the big graduation party for Andrew next week. I wanted to have a memento for the day. I made a guestbook for the party with a few of Andrew's pictures over the years. I will have a special table that will have his senior pictures and the guest for people to write their sentiments. While going through some of my scrapbook paraphernalia I came across this freebie I had gotten from Archiver's it was perfect for what I wanted. American Crafts miniMARKS rub ons that I got a Big Lots a while back for a bargain price.
This is the front of the book
This is the first page I wanted to use the pictures from his graduation and the invitation
Andrew and I have done a Mission Trip to Mexico every year since he was a freshmanAndrew on the first day of High School and one of his Senior picture
Andrew was involved in drama in High School and of course every high school boy has a band. Andrew's band is called the Aeger Tones.
This is one of Andrew's senior pictures they were taken by a fablous photographer Tiffiny Evans her phtotgraphy company is called QT Photography check out her website
This is not the first guestbook that I have made, last year I made one for my parent's 50th anniversary party. It turned out just as nice as this one and I plans to make another for a friend for her wedding. Now for the rest of the party

The Graduate

My son just left to join his fellow seniors to practice his graduation ceremony for tomorrow night. It is good to reflect as you close a chapter in your life and open another one. He is great guy, artistic, musical, organized and a good friend, and we are so proud that he was accepted to University of Central Missouri, we couldn't ask for a better son. So we are going to celebrate. Here is the invitation to his graduation party that I made. I swiped the idea from http://www.archiversonline.com/ they have several good ideas for graduation announcement. We are inviting 120 of our closes friends (gasp) so pray for no rain that day because our little house will never fit everybody. Happy Graduation Andrew we are so very proud.

The directions are on the Archivers web site but I tweaked mine a little bit just to get the best use of paper, cut an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of black card stock in half and the card is folded to look like a matchbook cover. The inside paper is pearlized from Office Depot, it was $10.00 for 50 sheets. The pearlized paper was used around the picture too. The graduation cap is a Sizzix die that was borrowed from a friend (thank you Pat) and I used a Gelly Roll pen. I am not sure of the exact name of the pen but it very sparkly ink that I used on the tassel. The ribbon I just happened to come across at Walmart it was $1.97 for a roll which I thought was a bargain. I only needed 2 rolls of it for 50 invitation. (Note: I am close to 2 Walmart and the Super Duper Walmart did not have this ribbon I found it at the "small" Walmart.) They did have 2 different kinds of ribbon the graduation with black and white with a cap, scroll and stars.

The picture was the hardest thing.....if you have teenager you may understand. Andrew says he has no soul left because his picture has been taken so much over the last 2 weeks (he had his senior pictures taken also)

Alright, so I'm off to clean the house for the grandparents are coming tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day

Well I had a lesson learned if I want to keep a secret don't put it on my blog for my mom to see! I didn't think she looked at it, but hey it got her to come visit me! Here we are with her tribute we had a good day together. My plan was to take her to the Missouri Botanical Garden's (Shaw's Garden) but she wanted to leave early to get home. If you are ever in STL you must visit the gardens they are wonderful.

Tribute to my Mom

I finally finished it today. My church was encouraging everyone to make a tribute board for their mom and have them displayed for mother's day. The writing was the hardest thing, but thanks to Leigh Anne and her wonderful editing skill she helped me give a fitting tribute to my mom. While it took me 2 weeks to write the tribute it only took me an afternoon to decorate the board.
This is all a surprise for Mom as a gift for Mother's Day.
